In Purgatorio XXIII, 87, Nella is recalled by Forese Donati, who, praising her, exalts her devotion and sincere grief: "la Nella mia con suo pianger dirotto." Dante presents the figure through the memory of her brother Forese, who points to her as an example of familial affection and loyalty, capable of moving others with her weeping. Nella thus remains tied to the Florentine milieu of the Donati and to the private sphere of mourning, without further biographical information that the verses provided or authorized notes allow us to reconstruct with certainty.
