Ema
Ema is the place mentioned by Cacciaguida in Par. XVI, 143, where he asks God that Dante be granted to Ema.
Description
The name Ema appears in the speech that Cacciaguida addresses to Dante in the Heaven of Mars, when he praises the Florentine origins of his friend and prays that his lineage be well received. In this context the verse reads: «se Dio t'avesse conceduto ad Ema» (Par. XVI, 143). The mention thus occurs in the Paradise, in the Heaven of Mars, while Dante's ancestor speaks of Dante's family. The authorized notes provided concern Canto I of the Inferno and contain no references to Ema.
