Description
Dante places the Ebro as the western limit of the geographical space that delimits the region inhabited during his life, pairing it with the Magra river, which marks instead the eastern limit. The mention is inserted within a periphrasis of a linguistic and political nature: the area between the two rivers corresponds, according to Dante's indication, to the brief stretch of road within which the return of an exile could have been accomplished.
