In Canto XVI of Paradiso, Cacciaguida mentions Chiusi within a list of cities of central-northern Italy. The verse places it immediately after the land watered by the Tiber and before Sinigaglia, along a sequence that crosses the localities of the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian coast, from Fano to Romagna. The name appears alongside that of Senigallia, forming a pair of places listed at a short distance from each other in the geographical catalogue of the Florentine poet.
